June 16, 1976 thousands of students in Soweto, South Africa went on a peaceful protest against being taught in Afrikaans, a language only spoken in South Africa by the minority whites at the time. A turning point in history was when a photo of a 13 year old boy Hector Pieterson made covers of newspapers world wide. Captured by photographer Sam Nzima. This is their story:
