Fagbemi Transcends the Beauty of the African Woman

Size of the drawing:
A3. 11in x 17in
Pen and Color Pencils on paper

“Transcendence”is a piece that took over 20 hours to complete, and it is certainly one close to my heart because it describes the features of an African woman. It stemmed out of Fagbemi reading a Women Matter Africa Report, and realizing that an African woman tries twice as hard to become phenomenal. They transcend the norm.

Adinkra symbols were used in this piece to outline some characteristics of the African woman.

About the Artist:

Titilola P. Fagbemi

I am a visual artist that takes on different mediums, but precisely pen art. I derive pleasure in telling a story through my pen on a plain sheet of paper. The ability to create something from nothing gives me a sense of freedom and joy no matter how long it takes.
