We don't exactly have the best reputation on privacy right now
Last year Facebook was in the pits after leaking of its privacy policies were revealed in having had its users data tampered with for the US Elections. Mark Zuckerberg has made a promise to make the future of Facebook and all of its other platforms private. These are the 6 principles Facebook is going to be focused on:
1. Private Interactions
2. Encryption
3. Reduced permanence (meaning content and messages that disappear)
4. Safety
5. Interoperability (being able to communicate across the company's different apps)
6. Secure data storage
"We are testing this because we want your followers to focus on the photos and videos you share, not how many likes they get," Instagram said.
In an attempt to combat bullying Instagram head, Adam Mosseri announced yesterday that the app would be making follower count and likes less prevelant in its algorithm set up. A trial in Canada has already been implemented where the number of likes is hidden on a post. Other features included a camera mode that allow users to have an away mode, as well as a feature that allows them to post content that does not include photos or videos.
