The African Union has Suspended Sudan's Membership After Military Massacres Civilians

Writer: Zintle RamanoZintle Ramano

This announcement was made after an emergency meeting at its headquarters in Addis Ababa was made following Monday's attack on a protest camp which left 108 dead and 500 wounded.

The Sudanese Professionals Association on Thursday asked people to block main roads and bridges to "paralyse public life" across the country in retaliation for the military crackdown.  Sudan's ruling military council on Friday promised the country would have a new civilian government, a day after the armed forces overthrew President Omar al-Bashir after 30 years in power.
