The Roadmap of Digital Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality

On 8th March annually we celebrate International Women's Day to recognize the achievements of women around the world and to raise awareness of the issues that still need to be addressed in order to achieve gender equality.

Gender equality for black women looks like equal access to education, employment, healthcare, and other resources regardless of gender. It also looks like equal representation in leadership roles, equal pay for equal work, and an end to gender-based discrimination. Additionally, it looks like an end to the systemic racism that has held black women back for centuries. Finally, it looks like a society that values and respects the unique contributions of black women and celebrates their successes. We can achieve this by working together.

What does the roadmap of digital innovation and technology for gender equality look like?

1. Increase access to digital technology and resources for women and girls

2. Promote digital literacy and skills development for women and girls

3. Create and promote gender-sensitive digital content and services

4. Increase the representation of women and girls in the digital economy

5. Strengthen the capacity of women and girls to use digital technology for economic empowerment

6. Promote the use of digital technology to advance gender equality and women’s rights

7. Enhance the safety and security of women and girls online

8. Promote the use of digital technology to address gender-based violence

9. Increase the participation of women and girls in the design, development, and governance of digital technology
